Why RAID Is Not a Backup
- RAID protects against a drive failure but not against accidental deletion, ransomware or NAS hardware failure
- We always configure at least one offsite backup — cloud replication or a second NAS at a separate location
- Restore testing is part of our setup process — a backup that has never been tested is not a reliable backup
- Snapshot Replication provides additional point-in-time recovery within the NAS for fast rollback after accidental changes
